1) Summary
- Your documents are stored on your device. We do not operate a cloud service for Toki.
- No login required. We do not collect account details because there are no accounts.
- No advertising tracking. We do not sell personal data.
- Purchases are handled by Apple/Google. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements for Pro.
2) Data we process
A) Data you create in the app (stored locally)
Toki stores the information you enter on your device, such as:
- Document title, category/type, issuer/country
- Holder name (optional), document number (optional)
- Issue date, expiry date, renewal history, notes
- Reminder preferences (e.g., 30/7/1 days before at a set time)
- Attachments (if enabled): photos or files (such as PDFs)
Where it lives: in the app’s local storage (e.g., SQLite and app sandbox).
B) Notifications
Toki can schedule local notifications on your device to remind you before an expiry date.
- We do not send you notifications from our servers.
- If you deny notification permission, reminders won’t appear.
C) App lock (Face ID / passcode)
If you enable Face ID or passcode lock:
- Biometric matching is handled by your device’s operating system.
- We do not receive or store your Face ID data.
D) Export / import (CSV)
If you use export or import:
- Toki creates/reads a CSV file on your device (through the OS file picker).
- We do not upload your CSV anywhere.
E) Purchases (Pro)
If you buy Pro (one-time purchase):
- Payments are processed by the App Store or Google Play.
- We use RevenueCat to help verify purchases and unlock Pro features in the app.
RevenueCat may process purchase/entitlement information (for example, transaction/receipt data and app/user identifiers used to manage entitlements). See RevenueCat’s privacy policy for details.
Apple may share receipt information with developers to support purchases/refunds and app operation.
3) Data we do not collect
- We do not ask you to create an account.
- We do not collect your document contents on our servers.
- We do not run personalized advertising or track you across apps/websites.
- We do not sell personal information.
4) How we use data
We use the information stored in Toki to:
- Display your documents and expiry status
- Schedule reminders (local notifications)
- Support export/import and attachments (if enabled)
- Unlock Pro features after purchase verification (via StoreKit/Google Play and RevenueCat)
5) Sharing and third parties
A) Apple App Store / Google Play
Your purchase is processed by Apple/Google. Their privacy policies apply to payments and store services.
B) RevenueCat (Purchases/Entitlements)
We use RevenueCat to manage Pro entitlement logic.
C) Operating system services
Toki uses iOS/Android system frameworks for:
- Notifications
- Face ID / passcode authentication prompts
- Document/file picking (and photo library access if you attach images)
These services are provided by the OS and follow your device settings and permissions.
6) Data storage, retention, and security
Local storage
Your documents and settings are stored locally in the app’s storage.
Retention
Data remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove individual items or use “Delete All Data” (if provided in-app).
Backups
Depending on your device settings, your app data may be included in device backups (e.g., iCloud device backup on iOS). This is controlled by your OS settings.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data within the app, including:
- Optional app lock (Face ID/passcode)
- Using platform security best practices for local storage
No system is perfect, but we design Toki to minimize collection and keep your data on-device.
7) Your choices and controls
You can:
- Enable/disable notifications in-app and in system settings
- Enable Face ID/passcode lock
- Export your data (CSV)
- Import data (CSV) (Pro feature, if applicable)
- Delete documents, attachments, notes, and history
- Delete all data (if provided)
8) Children’s privacy
Toki is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9) International users
Toki is available internationally. If you are in the UK/EU, data protection laws such as GDPR may apply. Because Toki is designed to keep your document data on-device, the main third-party processing relevant to many users is purchase/entitlement processing (Apple/Google and RevenueCat).
10) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Toki evolves (for example, if we add optional sync in the future). When we do, we will update the “Effective date” above.
